Bandage

Keep the ‘second skin’ or Saniderm bandage on for 4 days. This bandage is both waterproof and breathable, so it’s safe to shower while wearing it. You might notice some fluid build-up under the Saniderm after a day or two, which can look like the tattoo is ‘leaking.’ This is completely normal, as it’s just excess ink, blood, and plasma.

When it’s time to remove the bandage, it’s easiest to do so in the shower, after your usual routine. Carefully peel off the bandage, then rinse the tattoo with lukewarm water and gently clean it using a small amount of mild, unscented soap. Avoid applying direct water pressure from the shower head or tap. Once clean, pat the area dry with a clean paper towel.

If there’s any sticky residue left around the edges of the Saniderm, you can gently rub it off using a little coconut oil.

Cleaning

After removing the bandage, clean your tattoo twice a day for the next two weeks—once in the morning and again before bed. Use lukewarm water and a small amount of mild, unscented soap to gently wash the area. Always pat the tattoo dry with a clean paper towel. *I recommend Dove unscented bar soap*

Maintaining a clean tattoo is essential for proper healing. Make sure your hands are always clean before touching your tattoo in order to avoid an infection.

Moisturizing

During the first week, moisturizing isn’t necessary. Allow your tattoo to breathe and heal naturally. It’s normal for some scabbing to form—avoid picking at any scabs. If your tattoo feels irritated from dryness, you can gently apply a small layer of unscented lotion to soothe it. Make sure your hands are clean before touching your tattoo, and apply only a thin layer. * I recommend Lubriderm Unscented lotion*
